Westen spent 2 1/2 days in the hospital. He was born on Sunday morning and stayed in the hospital with his birth familyon Monday and part of Tuesday. He had to be on blue lights because his bilirubin levels were high.
From the moment he was born (ok, from about 10 minutes after he was born) he's been eating like a hog. He had no problem figuring out how to suck on the bottle and he hasn't stopped since.
On Tuesday morning before we headed home from the hospital, Westen's birth-aunt came to the hospital and took some really cute pictures of him. His little cheeks sure do show up in pictures :)
He was being really cute. He was smiling and making faces and yawning...so cute.
Was nice of them to let us watch them take pictures. It made me feel remembered when they asked for our wedding rings for this picture. It was just a sweet simple acknowledgement that we would be his parents.
Another thing he has been doing since he was born is grabbing onto fingers. When his birthmom first fed him, he latched onto her pointer finger with his cute little purple hand. It's so sweet that when you feed him, he often hold onto your finger with his tiny little hand (which has really long little fingers!)
I love this picture of him. I think he looks so peaceful :)
For Christmas we gave our birthmom this little charm necklace. The little fishy charm is very significant. While she was pregnant, her family teased her that she looked like she had a fish tank in her belly and they started calling Westen "fishy". It was sweet of them to take a picture of his little foot with the necklace we gave her! (we weren't there when they took that picture, so it was a sweet little surprise when we got these pictures. Won't lie...we cried.)
Thank you Aunt Connie for the beautiful pictures you took of Westen 1 day old. We will treasure them always.
ReplyDeleteGlad you all made it home safely and are settled in. Thanks for letting me take so many photos. I figured you had your own photography plans so I didn't want to force my amateur photo skills on you, that's why I mostly focused on Audrey. But thanks for being there and being part of it. You guys are so great and I am so happy for this cute little guy to grow up in such an awesome family with two fun and loving parents. Thanks for everything! We will be looking forward to updates!
